The Rocky Mountain Radiographics Story

Rocky Mountain Radiographics FacilityRocky Mountain Radiographics, Inc was originally founded in the late 1960's as a silver reclamation company by James Blackburn. While working as a film salesman, Jim discovered an opportunity to help companies recycle silver from their xray fixer chemicals.

With his children in tow, Jim drove around to the Denver-area hospitals, lugging large drums. They collected 2-3 times per week, then slide the closed barrels down a specially-built slide in their home basement. After using zinc oxide to turn the used fixer into a sludge, Jim sent the silver sludge off to be processed. Being "Green" before it was cool, Jim took those original recycling efforts and turned it into "gold" to fund his fledgling company.

Soon after, Jim landed his first film dealership, selling xray film from Sakura (now Konica Minolta Medical Imaging) out of his home in Parker and incorporating his company as Rocky Mountain Radiographics, Inc (RMR) in 1971.

More than 40 years later, Rocky Mountain Radiographics is still a family-owned company in the Southeast Denver area. Located in a beautiful new building in the Compark business park near Centennial airport and the large American Furniture Warehouse store, the office is open weekdays from 8 am - 4 pm. Contact Us!

Along with selling digital xray equipment, xray systems, film processors, service and supplies, Rocky Mountain Radiographics still provides silver reclamation services for used fixer and xray films - call today to find out more!
